Business was my favourite subject at A-Level and it eventually led me to study management at university. I’ve now been tutoring A-Level Business for five years. I’m especially keen on marketing, entrepreneurship and anything involving a good case study. Lessons usually start with whatever a student finds difficult, then we work through examples and questions together. I’m also happy to spend a whole session pulling apart a tricky essay.

Before moving into teaching, I worked in marketing, so I tend to bring quite a lot of practical examples into my A-Level Business lessons. I’ve been tutoring for seven years and particularly enjoy topics around branding, market research and competitive strategy. With exam preparation, I concentrate on making sure students actually answer the question being asked rather than simply writing everything they know about the topic.

I tutor A-Level Business and have spent the past nine years teaching the subject. One thing I notice quite often is that students know the theory but struggle to apply it convincingly to a case study. That tends to be where we start. I use short extracts from businesses, past-paper questions and timed essays in lessons. Finance is probably my favourite area to teach, particularly break-even, cash flow and investment appraisal.
